1st Lady Monique January
Monique January, a native of Portland, Oregon is the youngest of four children. She developed a love for God at a young age. At the age of twelve, she accepted the call of the Lord. During that time, she would go out and witness with an evangelism team to win souls over for the kingdom of God.
Monique learned the power of prayer by hanging around the mothers of the church. Rising early to pray and hear from God, she attended 5:30am prayer at Emmanuel Temple Church; standing on the scripture in Luke 18:1, “Men ought always to pray and not faint.”
In 1994 under the presiding Bishop A. A. Wells, the Lord promoted her as a licensed Minister. In 1998 she became an ordained Elder. In her local churches, she has served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Department Leader, Single Women with children, and New Convert classes.
Since that time she has been the recipient of countless accolades. She has ministered at Women’s Prayer Breakfasts, Women Retreats, Juvenile detention, Senior citizen and Drug Rehabilitation homes, 100 Women in White program, and Leadership Conferences.
She was also a "radio preacher" who inspired thousands of listeners weekly on KKSL(1290AM) through a live talk show called "Entrance of His Glory." The audience included the Portland Metropolitan area and Vancouver, Washington.
Monique obtained an Associate degree from A. L. Hardy School of Theology and has a bachelors’ degree from Warner Pacific College in Business Administration, with a minor in Human Resources.
Monique has a heart to see women grow and not only meet their spiritual goals but also their professional goals. In 2005 Monique started W. I. G. - “Women Inspired to do Greatness” where women were not only encouraged but also challenged to move to the next level in their life.
Although she wears many hats, she realizes that her first ministry is to her husband and children.
