Pastor
Mervin January grew up in
Winnsboro
,
LA
where he played football, basketball, and was a member of the high school
marching band. Mervin is a graduate of
Grambling
State
University
where he served as the Drum Major of the World Famed GSU Tiger Marching Band
(
Grambling
,
LA
). He graduated in 1996 with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Information
Systems and a minor in Music Education. NOW….. He is a Drum Major for Jesus!!
In 2008,
Pastor Mervin received the mission and vision for Saved to Serve Ministries
while living in
Charlotte
,
North Carolina
. The vision was completed in 2013. He believes in 1 principle - our
personal witness must display evidence of an intelligent relationship with
God.
He is
married to Evangelist Monique January who was also ordained in 1995. She has
evangelized on local
Portland
,
Oregon
radio stations and for years around the city. Before becoming CO-PASTORS of
Saved to Serve Ministries, they have 38 years of combined ministry
experience. They have also ministered together at the Oregon State
Penitentiary since 2013. Pastor Mervin is currently a chaplain for the
Multnomah
County
Detention
Center
since 2013. Their non-profit organization pronounced (“AAY-ORF”) AAORF,
also known as Against
All Odds Restoration Foundation where they minister to the homeless,
jobless, and broken-hearted using the word of God and KFC chicken. They have
a weekly “DRIVE-BY” prayer tent on
South East 82nd Avenue
in
Portland
, which is currently only known for high activity in crime, drug
trafficking, and prostitution. They are dedicated soldiers on the
battlefield for the Lord!
